SOLO RINK

SELL THE FUTURE through
the comfort of the past

SoloWheel was looking to sell 2000 one-wheeled personal electric transportation devices at $1700 a piece within the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas. Our research showed that consumers, being unfamiliar with this category let alone this specific brand, needed to try the SoloWheel in order to even consider buying it.

SOLO RINK: A RETRO-FUTURIST ROLLER RINK EXPERIENCE

We decided the best way to get a large number of people who could afford a premium priced unfamiliar toy was to host a futuristic 80s/90s style roller rink at Microsoft. This is a place where Millennials fondly remember trying and failing and still coming back. Painting SoloWheel in the same light will give them a product that can help recapture those memories.

CAKE TO MICROSOFT HUMAN RESOURCES

To make this concept a reality SoloWheel would have to work closely with Microsoft HR. A cake with a note is curiosity arousing and gift accepting invokes a need to reciprocate. This is the best way to get HR to take a phone call and work toward making Solo Rink a reality.

COMPANY-WIDE EMAILS TO MICROSOFT EMPLOYEES

To drive Microsoft employees to Solo Rink we needed to bring the experience to them through emails that communicate the intersection of nostalgia and futurism, underlined with fun.

EVENT & VIDEO ADS

By featuring the Solo Rink event page and video experience in Facebook and Instagram feeds of anyone near the Microsoft Campus we will be sure to reach most of our target audience. By offering a chance to win a SoloWheel by tagging others we'll increase social proof of interest.

WHEELERS IN CUSTOM SOLO RINK TRACKSUITS HANDING OUT FLIERS

Maniacs on one-wheeled future devices handing out fliers will stimulate interest. Sandwich boards point the way on campus to the event.

POST-EVENT COMPANY-WIDE EMAIL

After the event Microsoft employees will be reminded what a great time they had and show those that didn't make it how awesome the SoloWheel is. A blooper real really underlines how much falling off and getting back on really can be.
